PPMS-SPM – A brand new surface dimension in our Physical Property Measurement System
Two measurement worlds unite in the new PPMS-SPM. Starting immediately, LOT offers an SPM that has been specially developed by our new partner attocube systems for the Quantum Design measurement platform PPMS.
The PPMS is characterized by variable sample temperatures and variable magnetic fields. Possible temperatures range from cryogenic 1.9 K to 400 K. The magnet can generate magnetic fields of up to 9, 14 or 16 Tesla. The sample chamber is about 25 mm in diameter which is large enough to accomodate the SPM insert.
Attocube systems has long-time experience in scanning probe microscopy and its application under cryogenic conditions. Possible microscope modes are AFM (atomic force), MFM (magnetic force) and CFM (confocal). The modular design makes the hand-
ling easy and allows for a quick exchange of the various microscope heads. The SPM can easily be integrated into any existing PPMS.
Thus the standard range of measurement options has been extended by a new feature. In addition to bulk characteristics such as transport, thermal capacity and magnetic moment, surface images and their characteristics (e.g. magnetism, charge) may now also be measured. A remarkable feature is the minimum drift in variable temperature and field and the patented coarse positioning of the sample with a maximum size of 10 x 10 mm
